One of the main objectives of the project is to support the tourism and agricultural sector in the cross-border region, covering the regions of Evros, Kavala, Xanthi, Rodopi, Drama, Thessaloniki, Serres and the districts of Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskovo.

Eurointegra Association is a leading beneficiary of the project with successful years of experience in developing project proposals in the field of tourism and agriculture. Together with specialists – sommeliers, the team of the association prepared video lessons for white and red wines in the cross-border region of Bulgaria – Greece.  The trainings include topics related to serving methods, approaches to offering wine, demonstrations of bottle openings and other subtleties. The beautiful and refined atmosphere that was created for the shooting period further contributed to  the impact of the training materials.

With the assistance of the Association “Prosperity and Development for Bulgaria”, Beneficiary 2 under the project “Agro-Tourism Business Academy – SME Support System” lessons were prepared for rosé wines in the cross-border region. Video trainings will support the development of entrepreneurs’ skills and improve entrepreneurship conditions.

Producers from the cross-border region of Greece and Bulgaria provided exceptional wines for conducting the trainings. These varieties offer exclusivity of flavors and flavors that attract the attention of consumers of premium goods.  Suitable types of local foods for each type of wine were also presented.

The second stage of filming of video trainings is coming up, this time in a studio environment. The final stage will be the sound of the video lessons in Greek and English, after which they will be accessible for entrepreneurs at the Digital Business Academy for Agro-Tourism.  They will be extremely useful for THE HORECA businesses.

During the project, participants will get the opportunity to get acquainted and enter new markets, expand their production and increase production capacity.

The project partners, Eurointegra Association, Prosperity and Development for Bulgaria Association and Agrientrepreneurship organization, have extensive experience in the field. The two previous projects “Danube Winery Places” (CBC Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013) and VINESOS (INTERREG VA Greece-Bulgaria 20014-2020) are an extremely good basis for upgrading and using the already achieved results and successes.

“Danube Winery Places” set the stage for the development of wine tourism. It provided new opportunities for the development of the tourism industry, wine producers, winegrowers, tour operators, wine merchants and restaurateurs. During the project, 10 sommelier trainings were held, in which more than 300 professionals in the field of restaurants and hotels participated. An interactive wine list, a trilingual multimedia tourist guide was created. Two business tours were held in Bulgaria and Romania in order to exchange experience and good practices. A Bulgarian-Romanian wine festival was also held, which opened the Romanian market for Bulgarian wines, as well as the Romanian market for Bulgarian wines.

On the other hand, VINESOS was aimed at protecting vineyards, especially those in Natura 2000 and improving the conservation status of local grape varieties. Through analysis and scientific work, mechanisms were created to protect and preserve species.

The current project “Agro-tourism business academy – SME support system” is based on this stable foundation. In addition to access to specialized training, part of the digital academy, winemakers and vine growers will receive young plantings completely free of charge. It is planned to create 2 experimental fields for the cultivation and distribution of seedlings for the winegrowers. Research and analysis will be conducted.

One of the significant results of the project is the development and establishment of experimental fields for local vine varieties and production of young plants. Businesses will receive planting material to reintroduce local branding. It is expected that at least 30 farmers from Bulgaria and Greece will receive their new plantings by the end of the project implementation. The varieties that will be particularly emphasized on the Bulgarian side are: the local varieties Melnik 55, Shiroka Melnishka Loza, Rouen and Keratsuda.

It would be great if the agribusiness locations were digitally accessible, and visitors could easily find suggestions for organic agro and wine tourism routes, wouldn’t it? This is precisely the function of the innovative application, which will connect users and businesses from the cross-border region in an accessible, interactive way. The development of at least 10 interesting routes for agro and wine tourism is planned. And what’s even better is that through the application tourists will be able to create their own routes. This is a completely innovative approach to developing a business system serving entrepreneurs and consumers in the region. The application will be available completely free of charge and can be used both through smart devices and computers. Users will be able to use already created routes or create their own.

The application will provide support for a number of companies from the cross-border region Bulgaria – Greece, as part of the database and part of the interactive map. And a minimum of 9 enterprises will receive non-financial support. The Digital Business Academy for Agri-Tourism is also under development. It will include 4 educational modules and lessons. Some of the topics that the modules will cover are related to the diversification of the products and services of the entrepreneurs and the development of a new business niche, namely – bio agro wine tourism. The trainings will include video lessons, which in turn would help develop the skills of entrepreneurs and improve the conditions for entrepreneurship in the HORECA sector. Through the Agro and Tourism Business Academy, during the implementation of the project, 9 enterprises will be supported and will receive specialized business support through access to the digital training modules. All training materials will be available for use in the virtual Agri-business Academy.

The “Agro-business academy” project has been launched, through which a new business niche will be developed in the cross-border region of Greece and Bulgaria.

Aimed at common challenges, the project develops an innovative approach based on international achievements and business trends to provide a support system for SMEs. The Agritourism Business Academy will develop and provide professional lessons and video training for entrepreneurs and employees; two experimental fields will provide planting material to farmers; a mobile application for alternative tourism, as a new solution, will map target entrepreneurs, expand the possibility of market realization of regional products and services and stimulate alternative tourism visits; The web portal will provide digitized materials and scientific know-how to facilitate the business administration efforts of SMEs.

The planned initiatives contribute positively to increasing the competitiveness of the local and international markets by presenting exceptional products – organic wines from local varieties, bio-agro-wine tourism products and others. The special varieties that will be examined during events and trainings have their own history and terroir. It is these varieties that offer exclusivity of flavors and aromas that attract the attention of consumers of premium goods. In this way, through the development of a niche market in the cross-border territory, unique biological products will be presented, part of the bio-agro tourism sector. Choosing a niche and unique product leads to extremely good business development.

The project has a positive impact on the agricultural sector and related businesses, especially in the viticulture sector, as well as related agritourism. Moreover, through its implementation, an innovative approach is developed based on international achievements and business trends to provide a support system for SMEs. The Agritourism Business Academy will develop and provide professional lessons and video training for entrepreneurs and employees; two experimental fields will provide seedlings to farmers; the mobile application, as a new solution, will map target entrepreneurs, expand the possibility of market realization of regional products and services and strengthen alternative tourist visits; The web portal will provide digitized materials and scientific know-how to facilitate the business administration efforts of SMEs. The Academy will continue to provide consultancy and training after the end of the project.

The project uses the latest technology -VR (virtual reality) in terms of application development and the web portal, thereby increasing the maximum efficiency of the services described.

Target group of the project: winegrowers and wine producers; farmers, owners and staff of the HORECA sector, tourism sector, etc. on both sides of the trans-border region.

The project will prioritize young entrepreneurs and/or women entrepreneurs from the TGS region when forming the target groups.

Special attention will be paid to geographical areas with a lack of business support structures and minority populations in the eligible area of ​​Bulgaria and Greece.
