The deservedly awarded 90 point by the Wine Advocates for the white wine of a Bulgarian sort, Borovitza Someno Rikat 2012, are highly evaluated by Mark Squires, who is responsible for our area, along with Greece, Portugal, Lebanon and Israel in the website Wine Advocate. The previous vintage – Someno Rikat 2011, the tasting commission of DiVino gave the remarkable, for a local Bulgarian wine sort, 92 points or 4 DiVino rating.

Another wine of Borovitsa, Someno Buket 2011, received 90 points again, as in the previous year. A total of six wines from Bulgaria have been rated with 90 points.

The current project is aiming towards the education of children between 7th and 11th grade about environmental issues. The main objective is increasing the awareness over the ecological problems in the CBC region Romania – Bulgaria. This goal is going to be achieved by integrating of information and communication technologies (ICT) into 4 /four/ school cabinets in both countries. They are envisaged to be equipped with the necessary technical devices in order to support the priority idea of the project – the integration of a web portal, formed as a virtual platform for news sharing and performing of digital lessons. Within this project, an e-learning platform will be elaborated and integrated. It will consist of compiled information, which shall be utilized by the students, who are willing to contribute to the environment protection in their region. The pupils will have the chance to get acquainted of 12 digital lessons and tests, offering the possibility to be upgraded by those students on their own.

The project gave us the opportunity to promote the cultural heritage in the CBC region, through the creation of a bridge of friendship among young people in Romania and Bulgaria. That process reminded of the richness, which their native culture and folklore offers. The main activities were related to the organization and conduction of two festivals in the cities of Glavinitsa /Bulgaria/ and Calarasi /Romania/. The kids from both countries were involved in the main events: Cross-border photo exhibition – “The beauty of the place, where I live”; “Cross-border football tournament”, which was among the most interesting parts of the festival; “19^th Century Fashion Show”, which was dedicated to presenting typical folk costumes from the end of 19^th century, as well as customs and traditions, regarding life within the CBC region during the 19^th century. The two events were the culmination for the young people, which had the chance to show their creativity, ideas and knowledge to their predecessors.

The priority target of the project was the establishment of a high economic development within the CBC region Bulgaria – FYROM through the increase of the quality and the promotion of cross-border wine production, both at national and European level. The project team had the task to include a large number of wine producers from Bulgaria and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and they established the first of a kind “Association of oenologists of Macedonia”. The last-mentioned is still in support to all Macedonian wine producers and wine lovers. Another main objective and purpose of the project was the organization and conduction of 2 specialized trainings in both countries, which contributed to the better exchange of information between Bulgarian and Macedonian oenologists, and at the same time to get acquainted of the European regulations for wine production. A manual was elaborated within the project – “Innovations in the world of oenology”, in Bulgarian and Macedonian language, which included the best European practices in viticulture and wine production. A unique wine map was created, providing information regarding wine producers in the region, along with all vineyards and the origin of the different types among them.

The foundation of the project was envisaged to create new trade relationships and to strengthen already existing ones among wine and food producers and traders from Bulgaria and Turkey. We organized and conducted 2 /two/ “Food and wine fairs” in the cities of Haskovo /Bulgaria/ and Edirne /Turkey/ in the end of 2013. Through those events, more than 20 representatives of the food branch from the region of Haskovo had the opportunity to present their production, as well as to exchange experience and good practices with the representatives of local industry. The communication among them had a key importance for the establishment of new partnerships and the planning of future joint initiatives. Taking into account that Turkey is an applicant country for a membership in the EU, we conducted specialized trainings, regarding food safety, into which more than 40 food and wine producers from the cities Kesan and Edirne /Turkey/ took part. We established a Business center in Edirne, where 2 experts /one from each country/ conducted over 500 consultations about the administrative requirements and procedures, related to the import and export between Bulgaria and Turkey.

The total value of the project is 883 722.18 euro.

The project initiated the process of development of wine tourism. It provided new opportunities for the development of the tourism industry, wine producers, vine growers, tour operators, wine traders and restaurateurs. The project “Danube winery places” succeeded in establishing a new image and joint tourism policy, which shall lead to a significant development of the CBC region.

During the project, 10 /ten/ sommelier trainings were conducted, where more than 300 professionals from the restaurant and hotel business sectors took part. An interactive wine map was created, within which could be found routs for visits of wineries, sights of the region, hotels, etc., which we have personally visited. We elaborated a trilingual multimedia tourism guide, for the needs of traditional and potential wine lovers. We conducted 2 /two/ business tours in both countries, in order to exchange experience, good practices and to promote our already achieved results. We organized a Bulgarian-Romanian wine festival, which opened the Romanian market for the Bulgarian wines, and vice versa.

The project follows the worldwide tendencies in the educational sector, which require modernized methods of teaching in the schools of the CBC region Romania – Bulgaria. By means of integrating information and communication technologies (ICT) into 4 schools in the region, Eurointegra Association gave a boost towards a more effective education for the Bulgarian and Romanian students from the schools, partnering in the project. An investment in ICT for educational purpose was made and also a good model for a CBC partnership was demonstrated, regarding the cooperation for achievement of a European standard. Together with the Romanian partners, 10 school cabinets in total were equipped in both countries and an e-learning platform was created, called SWOBLE, in order to facilitate the pupils in the process of studying. Thereby, the educational system in the region achieved a very high level of international competitiveness.

By the implementation of this project, the Agency for Food Safety of the Hellenic Republic, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (Regional Directorate in Blagoevgrad) and “Eurointegra” Association, developed a joint project “Better Food Quality – a force for building the health and social welfare”, co-funded by the CBC Programme European Territorial Cooperation Programme “Greece-Bulgaria 2007-2013”, Priority Axis 1: “Quality of Life”. The main objective of the project was increasing the food safety control in the CBC region Greece – Bulgaria and therefore reduce the risks for human health. The problems, related to the provision of nutrient and healthy food worldwide, the reduction of food deficiency, morbidity and mortality due to a number of diseases, could all be solved most efficiently by applying a common European policy for food safety and quality. The joint efforts, which were made by the partners from Greece and Bulgaria, were pointed to the improvement of the food production process in the CBC region and the quality that reaches to the end user. The project was implemented under the motto: “Food safety from the farm to the table”.
